LRN: Head of Content, Development & Production

LRN is a profitable, privately held company headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Opportunity Summary:

This role is responsible for all aspects of content including strategic direction of instruction modules, acquisition of rights/licensing, global content operations including research/editorial, graphics, production, instructional design. This role drives business through the management of data-driven consumer experiences. Further, this person is responsible for constant, thoughtful partnering with internal departments including engineering, quality control, engineering support and services to drive an efficient, scaleable, cost effective and consistent production environment.

Essential Job Functions:

Direct the development and maintenance of a vast library of courses consistently working with IT to streamline, automate and maintain publishing environment.

This requires a comprehensive understanding of technology infrastructure for delivery and production.

Execute continued international product expansion including localization.

Strategically plan and implement the acquisition and licensing of content.

Initial negotiations and continued management of 3rd party data providers.

Provide innovation and integration of new products.

Manage a large multi-functional department including budget (approx 30-40 people).

Implement strategic product planning impacting business revenues.

Qualifications and Experience:

15+ years in increasingly responsible and expansive roles including management .

Must have 5+ years experience in a senior role managing online production of content, not limited to the editorial function.

Prefer 2-4 yrsof experience in which business development or licensing was a component of the role.

Experience transitioning or establishing multi-site production.

Demonstrated project management abilities.

Excellent, professional communication skills.

Content and team building for knowledge management initiatives.

Instructional design experience a plus.


BA/BS Degree

MBA or Advanced degree preferred
