UK’s Channel 4 Doubles New Media Spend

In UK, Channel 4 has doubled the amount it plans to spend on new media commissions this year…it has increased its budget for outsourced projects from 4m GBP in 2004 to 8m GBP for 2005, as part of an initiative to give emerging platforms a central role in its future.

Channel 4 intends to focus on developing its site into an entertainment destination and on creating a standalone wireless portal for out-of-home viewers. Next month, it will launch a music and gossip site, offering exclusive content and a library of downloads.
