Reliance Upbeat On Telecom, But Can It Keep Up The Momentum?

News Today: This is a story on Reliance Infocomm‘s telecom plans. It’s of interest to us as Reliance is one of the largest customers of mobile content applications.
A sample: “After the advent of Reliance into telecom space, the Indian customers have been catapulted into the next phase on concept, convergence and networking for an enhanced value proposition, besides getting exposed to a range of services through R-world,” said Mahesh Prasad, president, Applications Solutions and Content, Reliance Infocomm. A Java-enabled platform that allows subscribers access to many services like video streaming, MMS (multimedia messaging), a range of utility-based text content, TV channels, ring tones and wallpapers, R-world has to ‘constantly innovate with many features and multimedia services’ to bring more subscribers into the loop, said Prasad.
But the only issue here is the ownership dispute between the two brothers, Mukesh and Anil Ambani, which is yet to be resolved; and who will get the control of the telecom business is also yet to be decided. This could be a dampener.
