Flarion adds a little spice, in India

Flarion’s hitting streak might soon best Hideki Matsui for I can almost exclusively tell you that the company is about to make some big noise in one of the fastest growing telecom markets – India. The company’s technology is in trials in capital city of New Delhi, by one of the largest GSM carriers in that country. It has been hard to pin down exactly who, but informed sources say that it could be the biggest of them all – Bharti Telecom. But don’t take it to the bank as yet. Cellular operators in India will have to soon contend with fixed wireless operators like DishNet that is planning to marry fixed wireless with wi-fi mesh networks.
India has been desperately looking for ways to increase its broadband density but the wired business in India moves at a pace slower than the hot summer sun. Wireless, however is another story. Cash rich carriers, affordable pricing plans and consumer willingness to adopt wireless devices has made India a cellular growth story. Pulling off a win in that market could add some serious “oomph” to Flarion’s overall deployment numbers, which can also have a cascading effect in other parts of Asia.
