Microsoft Licensing Dances with H’wood

A good story on MSFT’s efforts to work closely with Hollywood…this one is about the s/w giant’s efforts to develop a movie around its popular game franchise “Halo”. And since last year, when it formed a new media/entertainment group and put Blair Westlake, former head of Universal Studios’ TV division, as its head, things have been better. Despite Hollywood fears of monopoly play, those who regularly deal with the company say that under Westlake, Microsoft has acknowledged that it is just one player in the digital media world and it has actively taken part in initiatives and standards groups that include competitors like HP and RealNetworks.
