NEC Launches I-mode Music For Telstra

NEC Australia (and its parent company, NEC) has launched a mobile music service for Australian incumbent Telstra’s i-mode service. So far the service has licensing deals with EMI and Warner, and Aussie independent labels Shock Records and Vicious.
“The “music-on-the-move” site initially delivers realtones (snippets of high quality digital music) and music industry news to users. This will be followed by the launch of full length music downloads and music videos later in 2006. All content when downloaded can be set as the mobile handset’s ringtone, allowing users to personalise their phone with much loved tracks…The site also boasts a comprehensive search engine”.
Davide Iacovitti, NEC Australia’s Mobile Content Manager, said that NEC’s aim is “to work with other mobile delivery platforms around the globe and develop new applications and content solutions that mobile consumers are craving”.
