Disney Online: Director – Product Development (North Hollywood, CA)

Manage Game and Video Production Teams:

— Identify, create, develop, direct, budget, schedule and manage developer process for games, advertising creative and video content for the Disney Online suite of Premium Products

— Work with the internal production resources, external developers and QA vendors to manage the product development and QA timelines to ensure timely delivery of a quality products and advertising creative, including the management of all milestone deliverables and reviews

— Create and manage the product development process and procedures for the Premium Products team

— Ensure all products are user tested to ensure product satisfaction

— Identify developers and technology solutions for all products including the negotiation of development agreements

— Oversee bug reporting with operations, developers, porting developers, QA vendors, and carriers

— Direct delivery of the product to our distribution partners and coordinate/synchronize development schedules across shared resources

— Approve products with Creative Director and VP before delivery to partners or sale to guests

— Ensure that the goals of the project-quality, timelines, budget, etc. are met

— Maintain the policies, goals, and values of the development team

— Effectively use all resources for production and testing

— Constantly evaluate risks and potential obstacles

— Oversee the creation and maintenance of all project-related documentation: milestones, schedules, contracts, design documents, specifications, etc.

— Work with the teams and to develop project specifications that define the scope of the project, requirements of the prototype, and deliverables of milestones

— Manage day-to-day project schedule, communicating current status

Identify, Evaluate, Develop and Create Content:

— Develop new opportunities and business relationships while fostering a creative atmosphere to bring new prospects and ideas for development and distribution

— Work with the Creative director in the development of pitch decks and creative treatments for new products and business opportunities

Provide Resources to Marketing Team:

— Work with marketing team to include them in the product design and delivery process

— Manage the development of marketing collateral


— 10+ years experience within the internet, media, and/or video game industries

— Significant game development OR website/content development experience preferred

— Strong understanding of product development best practices and procedures and ability to implement those practices across a diverse array of simultaneous projects with multiple production teams

— Strong understanding and passion for the family and casual gaming demographics

— Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to exploit, game play mechanics that appeal to these demographics

— Product management or leadership experience with proven track record.

— Ability to manage a wide array of development projects across a large team of producers

— Understanding of properties/brands and how to maximize them in games.

— Proven experience managing and motivating internal/external development teams and internal team members

— Extraordinary attention to detail and focus on quality

— Strong computer skills, some programming experience preferred

— Bachelor degree required


— Must possess excellent creative, organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Furthermore, must be an excellent problem solver and have demonstrated product management skills such as negotiation, scheduling and budgeting

— Ability to handle multiple priorities, development teams and projects for on time on budget delivery at the highest quality

— Initiative and quick learner with a flexible attitude to cope within a fast paced rapidly changing industry

— An appreciation for design and quality in creative product such as video games and video

— Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively in a cross functional team environment

— Outstanding attention to detail and organizational abilities

— Strong interpersonal skills

— Strong interest and knowledge of games industry, particularly of the game development community, required

— Customer care and quality focused
