Online News Streaming: CBS’s Couric Plans; NewsHour Streaming 4 Hours Early

Couple of interesting tidbits about new streaming online, which has different dynamics than other entertainment show downloads or streaming online:
CBS Evening News’ New Couric Era Includes Online Plans: The Television Critics Association‘s annual press tour is going on in Pasadena, with CBS lined up for today…I couldn’t bring myself to trek all the way in this blisteringly hot day here…even Santa Monica is sweating (you can follow all the TV writer/bloggers through this Bloglines consolidated feed account). Anyway, when the new avatar of CBS News starts on Sep 5, with Katie Couric at the helm, the online strategy will also include on-demand, extended Webcast interviews (done by Couric or CBS correspondents) and daily on-camera Web rundowns of the news lineup for the TV broadcast that evening.
KCET Could Expand NewsHour Streaming Test; Four Hours Prior To TV: This is an interesting experiment: Noncommercial PBS-affiliate station KCET Los Angeles has started webcasting PBS’ NewsHour at 3 p.m. Pacific time, four hours earlier than its airing on the TV station. The station says that if its trial of online delivery goes well, it could apply the Internet strategy to other shows.
