3.5G To Be Hampered By Lack Of Handsets

Informa Telecoms & Media has issued a report saying that: “A lack of compelling devices and content led to delayed launches and slow take-up of W-CDMA and EV-DO services, and early HSDPA and EV-DO Revision A services are expected to suffer from the very same problems.”
Informa expects 3.5G handsets to start maturing in 2008, with subscriptions and sales taking off in those years so that by 2011 85% of 3.5G devices sold will be handsets, rather than notebooks and PC cards which dominate the market until then.
By 2011 the company expects over 300 million 3.5G subscribers, up from 2.5 million this year.
