The line between handheld game consoles and mobile phones just keeps getting blurrier and blurrier. According to this Games Industry report, Konami has announced that they’re going to make several of their classic games available as demos on their new mobile portal. These demos are available to help consumers choose which product they want to purchase and play.
When asked about the free demos, Joe Morris, VP of Mobile Content for Konami, had this to say:
“Our customers appreciate being able to browse and sample the wide variety of products. Once they do decide to buy, the speed of our store is unparalleled, with most customers receiving the content an average of 90 seconds after choosing it.”
“Additionally, the Konami Mobile Portal allows us to develop an ongoing relationship with our customers. We’re committed to developing new ways of making the mobile experience easier and more enjoyable, and other companies are finding ways to use our technologies for a variety of applications beyond gaming.”
Pretty soon you’ll be able to download demos for Contra, Castlevania, Frogger and Dance Dance Revolution. That last one is a bit confusing… shouldn’t it be Tap Tap Revolution? That’s gonna be a good time for anyone who likes dancing games without all that pesky dancing. Either way, I know I’m looking forward to trying out Castlevania on my phone.
