China Plans To Cut Mobile Service Charges

China’s Ministry of Information Industry (MII) said on its official Web site that China should implement one-way charging as well as cut down general charges for telecom services, reports Telecom Asia. The ministry also urged telcos to “increase the transparency of service chargers and simplify highly complicated service kits”. To the extent this applies to data charges it should benefit the mobile content industry in China — in the long run. Similar to the move to require subcribers to subscription services to manually confirm their subscription a month after signing up the initial move to increased transparency could be negative…but increased trust in a sector will have long term benefits.
