TRAI Can’t Do Anything About VAS Revenue Share Issue

The TRAI apparently doesn’t want to get involved in the revenue share issue that mobile content providers are facing. Says Sudhir Gupta, Advisor (Mobile Networks) of Trai to Business Standard: “TRAI cannot do much in this matter since VAS players are not governed by mobile/cellular licence conditions and are purely private players.”
Piyush Khare, DGM (mobile) of BSNL Gujarat circle says that falling voice ARPUs (average revenue per user) force them to hold on to larger rev-share, also since the operator has incurred a larger initial cost for VAS.
Well, at least they aren’t blaming the software.
