In Chicago For Berkman-MacArthur Meeting On ‘Citizen Media’

While Rafat’s in New York, I’m in Chicago at a small but intense gathering called together by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard and the MacArthur Foundation to help frame the Project on Citizen Media, a “year-long critical analysis of the citizen media landscape.” One of my tasks: serve as a provocateur for a session on current and emerging form of participatory media models, including whether there are any business models that will work. A more personal mission: getting people away from the term “citizen media” — a little tough given that it’s actually part of the name of Berkman programs and this meeting.
