Non-Profit Gets $450k Grant From MacArthur Foundation, a non-profit community-driven news aggregator for finding “good journalism,” has received a $450,000 grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Past backers of the site, founded in 2005, have included the Ayrshire Foundation, the Mitch Kapor Foundation, the Sunlight Foundation, the Tides Foundation, along with individual donors Craig Newmark, and Doug Carlston (Public Radio International). The Mill Valley, CA-based site focuses on helping people find and rate quality, informative articles in a non-partisan manner. NewsTrust eventually hopes to sustain itself via advertising, membership fees and licensing. Founder Fabrice Florin was previously at Apple (NSDQ: AAPL). Release.
