Assuming you’re not out doing frantic last-minute shopping this weekend, grab yourself an extra cup of coffee and head over to the web site for The 2007 Crunchies. Sponsored by our parent site GigaOm (along with TechCrunch, VentureBeat, and Read/Write Web), these awards are designed to recognize the best startups, internet and technology innovations of the year.
There are 20 different award categories to vote in, ranging from “Best Technology Innovation/Achievement” to “Best Time Sink Site” to “Best Overall.” You can vote in each category once per day from now until January 10, and there will be a live awards ceremony in San Francisco on January 18. The nominees came from a pool of 82,000 submitted by site visitors; we expect the voting to draw similarly large attention, giving these awards some credibility. But be prepared to spend some time: with all 100 finalists hyperlinked from the voting site, you may find yourself browsing out to a lot of fantastic resources that you didn’t already know about.
