Wal-Mart to Cleantech: Pitch Us

walmartcleantech.jpgWal-Mart wants to hear from the ecopreneur crowd. Last November, the superstore giant said it was working on a web portal in partnership with the Clean Tech Forum that would allow companies and individuals to pitch their ideas as to how Wal-Mart could decrease its carbon footprint while at the same time helping its bottom line. Well, it’s live…um, don’t all rush at once, folks.

Why is Wal-Mart, with its deep pockets, interested in your greener solution? The company has been trying to cut its carbon emissions and reduce costs, both those of its operations and its supply chain. Today Wal-Mart also outlined what kind of technologies it’s hoping cleantech innovators will send its way:

  • alternative battery technology for forklifts
  • wind harvesting
  • closed-loop water processing
  • sustainable building materials
  • organic waste
  • oil-based waste
  • household hazardous waste

We registered on the site but have to wait a few days to get approval to check out the background. So there you go, now you can pitch the company that holds the reigns to U.S. goods. Tell us what you think.
