Earnings: R.R. Donnelley’s Profits, Sales Fall Slightly

imageAfter swinging to profit in Q2, print services company R.R. Donnelley (not to be confused with directory services company R.H. Donnelley) has suffered some minor setbacks in Q3 as a result of the worsening economic climate that’s been hitting publishers particularly hard. The company reported that Q3 earnings slipped 3.9 percent to $168.2 million ($0.80 per diluted share) compared to last year’s $175 million, citing the bad economy. Net sales for the Chicago company’s U.S. Print and Related Services segment were also down a 0.8 percent to $2.1 billion year-over-year. Stressing the uncertain outlook, R.R. Donnelley is projecting non-GAAP net earnings shares to range from $3.08 to $3.11.
