American Idol Viewership Drops Despite AT&T’s Massive Texting Campaign

We reported yesterday that AT&T (NYSE: T) sent a text message to nearly all of its 75 million subscribers, reminding them to tune into Fox’s 2009 “American Idol” premiere this week. MediaDailyNews reported that “Idol” garnered an average of 30 million overall viewers on the special two-hour episode, but that a year ago, it attracted 33 million viewers.
