Datamonitor Folds In To Ovum At Guardian’s Old Digs

Informa-owned analysis firm Datamonitor is folding itself in to Ovum, the technology reporting company it bought in 2006, and moving in to The Guardian’s old offices.
It is placing its Butler Group, Datamonitor Technology and Ovum brands under the name of Ovum itself from September 1 and, in turn, the new-look Ovum will launch two divisions – Ovum Technology & Industries Knowledge Centre and Ovum Enterprise IT Knowledge Centre.
Calling it “collaborative intelligence”, Ovum’s IT research SVP David Mitchell says in the release it will give the combined entity over 500 analysts: “For years, the analyst industry has been fixated with technology, and has paid little attention to the needs of the businesses. Instead, it has focused on technology minutiae. We’re aiming to change that model.”
Datamonitor let part of 119 Farringdon Road, London, in March, following The Guardian’s exit from the building after 32 years in December.
