Today in Cloud

I stopped by Interop this morning to watch a panel discussion about user experiences with cloud computing. Among the company’s represented were Domino’s Pizza, reddit and Grooveshark, and it was very interesting how the three very different companies had three very different reasons for moving to the cloud. For the large Domino’s, it was about resiliency. For the fast-growing startup Grooveshark, it was about agility. For the Conde Nast-owned, but relatively independent reddit, it was about making an end-run around corporate IT. Does it say anything about the cloud market, though, that reddit and Grooveshark use Amazon, while Domino’s is experimenting with Windows Azure?
