Adobe Releases Creative Suite 5

Adobe (s adbe) has started shipping the latest version of its Creative Suite product line, CS5, the company said today. The latest release includes more than 250 new features across new versions of Adobe’s flagship tools, among them Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver. I particularly like some of the new productivity-boosting features available in Photoshop, especially the jaw-dropping content-aware fill (if you haven’t seen it already, check out the video I posted showing it in action).

You can purchase and download CS5 directly from the Adobe website. These are professional-grade tools, however, which means they come at a professional price. The top-of-the-range Master Collection, which includes all of the tools in the CS5 family, retails for a hefty $2,599, while the cheapest edition, Design Standard, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat, costs $1,299. You can also purchase the tools separately — Photoshop CS5, for example, retails for $699. Tiered upgrade pricing from previous versions of the software is available — Adobe provides a tool to show upgrade paths and prices.
