Today in Cloud

The Hadoop Summit is taking place in Santa Clara, and the event is becoming a news engine comparable to much larger shows. Among the announcements today: Yahoo open sources a secure distro and Oozie; Cloudera rolls out of v.3 of its distribution, new tools and a commercial Enterprise edition; Karmasphere advanced its Hadoop management and development solutions; Datameer and Zementis partnered on predictive analytics; Talend incorporated Hadoop into its new data integration solution; and Appistry is garnering ecosystem support for its entirely distributed HDFS alternative. As more money finds it way to the table, it’ll be interesting to see how the currently friendly Hadoop ecosystem fractures, and which commercial products add enough value to make them stand out against the growing number of open source options.
