Skype And Fring Fight Over Interconnectivity

Fring is no longer providing support for Skype, a week after the mobile app expanded its features to include two-way video calling for the iPhone. Fring previously had allowed its users to make calls and IMs across Skype, in addition to others like Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Talk and ICQ.

In a blog post, Fring says that it is “being forced to stop its 4 years of Skype interconnectivity following threat of legal action” and says that “Skype is refusing to allow Fring to restore connectivity to Skype.” Fring calls it an “anti-competitive ambush” on the part of Skype.

Not so fast, says Skype, which says that Fring was “using Skype software in a way it wasn’t designed to be used — and in a way which is in breach of Skype
