The reception problems plaguing the iPhone 4 made news again today when Consumer Reports announced that the design glitch is enough to keep it from recommending the device. The iconic magazine noted the “sharpest display and best video camera we’ve seen on any phone,” and it said the signal problem could be resolved by using duct tape to cover the antenna gap at the heart of the issue. But for users looking for a phone they don’t have to jury-rig, Consumer Reports recommends the iPhone 3G S or another top-scoring handset. Which is a more logical — and less insulting — solution than just telling users they’re not holding the iPhone 4 the way they should.
