Today in Mobile

Mobile security issues are in the headlines today with news that an iPhone app from Citi accidentally stores sensitive information on the handset, where it can be accessed later by unauthorized users. It’s notable that unlike most problems in mobile security, the problem was reported by Citi itself rather than a vendor hawking a device management-solution. This incident isn’t likely to cause many real problems — Citi claims an updated version of the app eliminates those vulnerabilities — but there’s no question that we’ll see many more of these kinds of stories as consumers increasingly use their phones to handle their finances.
