Knight Foundation Puts $3.14 Million In New Set Of Local Media Experiments

A host of sites dedicated to reporting on specific issues are getting funding, as part of the Knight Foundation’s latest wave of local-media grant-making. They include: El Paso, TX-based, which will “cover news about immigration, U.S. relations with Mexico and drug trafficking policy;” ACCESS News, a website for the deaf community; West Anniston Today in Alabama, which will feature information on industrial pollution in that area; and Dubuque 2.0, a portal dedicated to getting residents in Dubuque, IL to reduce their carbon emissions.
