News Group’s iPad Exec Leaving The Company

David McAdam, the executive who was involved in the delivery of the iPad edition of The Sun newspaper, is leaving News International, he says…

McAdam, who had previously project-managed several projects at Teletext, ITV (LSE: ITV), Livestation and more, was taken on as mobile application lead for The Sun and News Of The World at News Group, News International’s tabloid/mass-market imprint, on an interim basis. With one app complete and the other imminent, his stint has come to an end.

Tablet editions are considered key to the future, and a potential justification for switching off print presses, by News Corp (NSDQ: NWS) CEO Rupert Murdoch…

The Sun’s edition followed The Times’, at £4.99 per month, in July, but, unlike The Times, tried to include both print page replicas and a low-key native tablet UI (see our review). News Of The World is due to debut on iPad at £1.19 a week soon.

Meanwhile, News International parent News Corp has been assembling talent including Sun Online’s long-time editor Pete Picton in New York to build what is expected to be a new, Sun-style nationwide U.S., tablet-only news “paper”.
