It has flown under the radar a bit that the State of California has signed on to use Microsoft’s BPOS suite statewide, replacing on-premise Exchange and a few other existing email systems. Google and Micrsoft (as well as IBM) have been duking it out for the collaboration crown, and this might be the biggest win yet. Google has Los Angeles, but Microsoft has California. It’s interesting to note, too, that CSC was selected in both cases to help ease the transition and to supply security via its Trusted Cloud services business. CSC, which also has an email deal with Symantec, might be the biggest winner of all.
