Today in Cloud

I stopped by SAP’s TechEd conference today to meet with an executive and talk analytics. As an SAP neophyte, I was pretty impressed with the story he told, particularly as it relates to the future. If the German software giant can integrate its existing industry-specific ┬áBI software with its new in-memory analytics appliance, its role in the data market should become even more prominent, as business users will have mega querying — even predictive — power at their fingertips. Interestingly, I was informed that SAP has no intent to get into the hardware business, despite the prevalence of integrated analytics systems among its peers.
