Dell made a splash again today, in part because of its bittersweet earnings, and in part because of its new formal partnerships with Joyent and Aster Data Systems (more on Joyent in my Weekly Update). The partnerships are further evidence of Dell’s commitment to serving enterprise customers, a group that led the way in Dell’s year-over-year revenue growth. I beat the Dell drum a lot, and it’s because I really think other vendors could learn a thing or two from Dell, especially as it relates to selling for next-generation data centers. Dell makes smart investments and enters into smart partnerships, and they’re paying off financially despite a fair amount of continued Dell-bashing.
