Clearwire/Sprint: The 4G race is on, and with Verizon gearing up to launch LTE next month, the two operators have added five more cities to their WiMax network: Los Angeles, Miami, Washington D.C., Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio have been turned on, bring total coverage up to 68 cities. Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) Germany: Vodafone is starting services on its LTE network this week, with prices ranging from €42.50 to €72.50, depending on the speed and volume of the plan. Initial targets are rural areas, with the aim to extend the service to 1,500 cities by next Spring, when Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile launches its LTE service. (via Mobile Business Briefing)

CSL: Meanwhile in Hong Kong, mobile operator CSL (owned Telstra) turned on an LTE/DC-HSPA+ network, which it says is the first of its kind in the world and gives better coverage than LTE alone. (CSL release)
