Trinity Mirror Closes Two Print Titles

Trinity Mirror (LSE: TNI) has closed two publications. Birmingham Post Lite, the free paper launched in April last year in opposition to the launch of The Birmingham Press, has been quietly suspended.

The title, which was distributed to 18,000 homes in Birmingham’s affluent suburbs, has not appeared since Christmas. It found it impossible to make a profit from property advertising.

A similar fate befell The Birmingham Press, founded by Chris Bullivant, which closed in October last year after six months with debts of £343,000.

TM is also closing the print edition of the Scottish free weekly, Business7, after three years. Its business content will continue to appear on its website and will also be included in the Daily Record.
