Today Boxee announced a $16.5 million C series of funding, which the company plans to grow its headcount and also to eventually launch a second generation box. The company made a mistake, in my opinion, going with D-Link, a home networking vendor that has been losing shelf-space over the past few years in North America, and probably would have been better off simply using an ODM who could white-label manufacturer a Boxee box without the D-Link brand associated with the device. I imagine that, on Boxee 2.0, they likely will go that route.
