Today in Mobile

Reuters reported today that AT&T will surrender a staggering $6 billion in cash, spectrum assets and roaming services to T-Mobile if the proposed acquisition is spiked by federal regulators. The news comes on the heels of yesterday’s congressional hearing on the deal, which essentially kicked off what looks to be a year or more of scrutiny inside the Beltway. And if yesterday’s hearing is any indication, AT&T has its work cut out for it in getting the deal approved. So expect AT&T to accept all sorts of concessions in exchange for the blessing of the regulators.
