Description |
Calxeda builds servers out of mobile phone chips, which makes servers and data centers more energy-efficient and helps data center operators save money on energy bills. |
GigaOM’s Take |
Calxeda’s ARM-based server architecture could be truly disruptive. Already, big players like Nvidia, Microsoft and Intel have been following suit, eyeing lower power server chips. However, the company hasn’t yet launched its product commercially and building a server company from the ground up is difficult and expensive. |
