In Asia Push, LivingSocial Buys South Korea’s TicketMonster

Furthering its expansion into the Asian market, LivingSocial is buying TicketMonster, South Korea’s largest daily deals site.

Ticket Monster, which is known in South Korea as TMon, was founded in May 2010 and is now pulling in $24 million a month, All Things Digital reports. The site has 2 million members, and is the largest of the nine acquisitions LivingSocial has made this year.

Once LivingSocial’s purchase of Ticket Monster is approved, LivingSocial will be operating in 23 countries. In June, it acquired Ensogo, which runs daily deal sites in the Philippines and Thailand, and Ensogo’s Indonesian company DealKeren.

Groupon, the largest daily deal site in the U.S., launched its own South Korean site in March. It now operates in 45 countries, including China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines and Taiwan.
