All of a sudden, original web video series are attracting serious money. Yahoo this week bowed eight new original web series, aimed mostly at women, as part of a broader relaunch of its Yahoo Screen video portal. Not to be outdone, Google’s YouTube is reportedly putting up $100 million in cash advances for original web content produced by the likes of Warner Bros. and News Corp. AOL, meanwhile, is rolling out 15 original video series for the fall season. The question now is whether the advertising dollars will be there to justify the money pouring into original productions.
