Report: HP’s VJ to depart in printer group re-org

Vyomesh Joshi, a long-time HP(s HPQ) executive in charge of its printer group, is leaving the company amid a reorganization that will fold HP’s printer group into its PC division under Todd Bradley, according to a report.
Vyomesh Joshi, HPAllThingsD reported that the reorganization will be announced later Tuesday, and an HP representative had no comment on the report. It would be a sweeping move by CEO Meg Whitman to combine what was once the most important division at HP—the printer group—with the PC group, which it considered dumping altogether last year.
VJ, as he’s widely known both inside and outside of HP, has been with HP since 1980, according to his corporate bio. Under his leadership the Imaging and Printing Group was a reliable source of revenue and profit for HP during some tumultuous years, but both revenue and profit declined significantly in the group during its last quarterly period compared to the previous year.
Bradley, who has overseen the PC group throughout several challenges over the past year, will now add printers to his duties. HP remains the world’s leading manufacturer of PCs (at least when you don’t count tablets) but shipments fell 16.2 percent during the fourth quarter compared to last year.
