Today in Cleantech

The West Indian state of Gujarat is set to switch on the largest solar field in Asia, a 600 megawatt addition spread across 3,000 acres.  India is trying to get to 15 percent renewables by 2020, and is notorious for brownouts. The Gugjarat Solar Park included four U.S. companies in the development and it’s probably a good time for all U.S. companies to be looking toward Asia for solar development. A report out this week put the figures behind what everyone knows, which is that support of clean energy in the U.S. is in freefall. Between 2009 and 2014, we’ll see a 75 percent drop in federal clean tech spending and 2012 is going to be particularly ugly as we go from $30.7 billion to $16.1 billion.  Go east, young man.
