Today in Mobile

Mitt Romney’s campaign said today that supporters can download an iOS or Android app to be among the first to learn the candidate’s pick for vice president. Meanwhile, the Barack Obama campaign launched an iOS app that enables users to keep up with the campaign and access grassroots organizational tools as well as registering vote and learning about local volunteer opportunities. The use of mobile by presidential candidates isn’t exactly new — Obama famously texted his choice of Joe Biden for vice presidential candidate four years ago — but these developments do underscore the increasing importance mobile data is playing in how we interact politically.
