Atlassian, a maker of software development and collaboration tools, has named Jay Parikh, Facebook’s (s fb) VP of infrastructure engineering, and Enrique Salem, former CEO of Symantec(s symc), to its board of directors.
Parikh (pictured above), who has spoken at GigaOM’s Structure events, brings great experience in scoping out and building scalable infrastructure, while Salem has deep roots in enterprise software.
“We’ve built a very modern SaaS platform for teams to collaborate on — and in Jay you have someone deep in the guts of building infrastructure for the world’s largest collaboration platform. And Enrique is a tech veteran who as CEO of one of the world’s leading tech companies has valuable experience,” Jay Simon, president of Atlassian said in an interview.
Doug Burgum, former president of Microsoft’s Business Solutions, is chairman of Atlassian’s board. Combining expertise in scale-out infrastructure and enterprise software will be important to Atlassian, which is pitching Stash as a rival to Github for inside-the-firewall business application development project management.
Atlassian, headquartered in Sydney, Australia with offices in San Francisco, claims corporate clients including Citigroup, eBay(s ebay), Coca-Cola(s ko), Netflix(s nflx) and United Airlines(s ual).
