ShoreTel spins up unified communications for a mobile generation

The explosion in the use of mobile devices and the onset of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend is having a transformative impact on the workplace as businesses rush to accommodate employees who want to work in new ways.

With a series of releases, ShoreTel in recent months has created solutions to serve this mobile generation of workers seeking to collaborate on their own devices.

With ShoreTel Dock, a business-grade docking station, workers can turn their iPhones and iPads into desk phones when integrated with ShoreTel Mobility to sync their mobile devices with a powerful business communications system. Accessing ShoreTel Mobility and conferencing applications, users experience a full unified communications (UC) experience, utilizing voice, instant messaging (IM), presence and conferencing on their own preferred device.

“We didn’t try to change or replace devices users already love, but instead enabled those same devices with enterprise UC to give end users a dynamic productivity tool that supports their own work rhythm,” said Pej Roshan, the VP of Product Management. “The ShoreTel Dock is the desk phone for the mobile generation.”

In addition, the latest release of ShoreTel Mobility offers UC capabilities with a redesigned user interface and simplified integration to enhance workforce productivity for iPhone and Android users. ShoreTel Mobility’s set of integrated voice, conferencing and collaboration, presence, IM, and other features gives businesses a rich set of communications tools to successfully deploy UC.
