The forthcoming Fitbit Force is part fitness tracker, part watch

It looks like Fitbit is working on a higher-end counterpart to it popular fitness tracking band the Flex. The Verge has images and details on Fitibit’s latest band, the Force, and it looks like fitness nuts will have a new toy to get excited about.

The Fitbit Force will reportedly cost $129.95, which makes it $30 more than the $99.95 Fitbit Flex. But you’re getting a lot of new features for your money. The Force reportedly features a built-in altimeter, which measures your altitude. It can use this sensor to provide you with a Floors statistic, telling you how many flights you climb each day.

Fitbit Force water resistant

As you can see in the promotional images, it also looks like the Force should be water resistant and have a sharper display than the Flex. But maybe best of all is that the Force will also work as a watch. That’s a relatively simple addition that helps it compete against devices like the Nike+ Fuelband. Fitbit has included an altimeter and a watch view before in the Fitbit One clip, but these features are not available in the Flex.

Other new features include a physical button, which will likely allow navigate through the band’s settings and functions. The band will be available in two sizes and come in black or slate color options. There’s no word yet on a release date.
