Now playing on Apple TV: The Beatles’ 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show

It’s one day after the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show and if you weren’t alive in 1964, you can relive the event on an Apple TV(s aapl). Apple Insider notes that Apple added a channel called “The Beatles”┬áin conjunction with the group’s first live U.S. television appearance. Click the channel and you’ll see the Fab Four’s entire 14-minute performance from the show, which can also be viewed in iTunes.

I’ve seen clips from the show but never saw the entire spot uninterrupted until this morning. The experience is different as a result. Watching the entire black and white spot on television feels surreal, as if I’m seeing it for the first time. Then again, I’m a huge Beatles fan so it could just be me.
The Beatles channel on Apple TV also coincides with the digital release of the Beatles U.S. albums, which differ slightly from the U.K. versions previously sold on iTunes. The 12 albums are now available in iTunes for $9.99 each. Those will likely be around for a long time to come, but don’t wait if you want to see the Liverpool lads on an Apple TV: Apple says the free video is here to watch for a limited time.
