Former Microsoft(s msft) CEO Steve Ballmer remains on the board of the software giant, but for how long, he’s not sure, according to an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
There was speculation that once he stepped down as CEO — which he did last month when Satya Nadella was named his successor — Ballmer would probably step away from the company he helped build into a software sales giant over the past 30 years.
Ballmer still owns a big chunk of the company — about 4 percent of the stock. He wa sa hard-charging CEO, and he has admitted he doesn’t see himself retiring to spend time on the golf course. But he told the Journal that being a director felt “different” and that he is quieter in the boardroom now.
This news comes just days before Nadella will make his first big public address in San Francisco on Thursday where he is expected to announce Office for iPad and stress a less Windows-centric vision for the company’s Azure cloud.
