Vrvana ditches its developer kit to focus on a consumer virtual reality headset

The world is mad for Oculus Rift, but not so much its competitors. Vrvana announced today that it is canceling its Kickstarter campaign a week before its close after raising roughly half of its goal of $313,000. Vrvana said in an email it will focus on developing a consumer headset instead of a developer kit. The startup said it believes the campaign failed because it set its prices too high, and it could not yet demonstrate some of the headset’s main features. Vrvana is now taking pre-orders through its website.
