After launching its iPhone-for-life leasing program and expanding it to Galaxy smartphones, Sprint has decided to tackle the tablet rental. On Thursday it announced iPad for Life, in which customers can get an iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3 on a 24-month lease.
The prices differ depending on the memory in the device, but the iPad Air 2 payments range from $20 to $28 a month, while the Mini 3s run between $17 and $25 a month. There’s no down payment and at the end of 24 months, you can either buy the device at a discount, continue renting it month to month, trade it in for the newest version of iPad (starting a new lease in the process) or terminate your tablet subscription with Sprint.
iPhone for Life helped Sprint with its most successful iPhone launch to date. Tablets haven’t been Sprint’s strongest point, but maybe the promise of inexpensive rentals will breath some life into that business.
