Data-driven home-improvement site BuildDirect raises $44M

BuildDirect, a Vancouver-based e-commerce company, has raised a $44 million ($50 million Canadian) series C round of venture capital from Mohr Davidow Ventures, OMERS and BMO Capital Markets.

I explained briefly, while covering the company’s $27 million series B round in January, how the company was founded on the idea that analytics could help it operate much more efficiently than larger competitors. BuildDirect’s models inform everything from what it orders to where it stores merchandise to who delivers it.

For more information on the company, check out this session with BuildDirect CFO John Sothan from Structure Data 2013.

Structure Data 2015 takes place March 18-19, by the way, so make sure to come and hear how data and analytics are changing everything from banking to mayonnaise.
