March 7 it is: Apple confirms iPad event

Apple has confirmed what had been rumored for weeks: that it will be hosting one of its signature product introduction events on March 7. The invitation shows what appears to be an iPad and reads: “We have something you really have to see. And touch.”

2011: Year of Two iPad 2s?

Despite speculation from reputable sources, 2011 appears to indeed be the year of the iPad 2, not the iPad 2.5, and almost certainly not an iPad 3. But, as Apple has demonstrated in the past, just because something doesn’t add up doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

Apple Getting Serious About the Cloud With Free MobileMe in April?

The latest rumor surrounding MobileMe says it could be free beginning in April, and will at least temporarily coexist beside the current paid service. It’s not the first time we’ve heard about imminent MobileMe changes, but it does suggest an announcement could be coming soon.

Back to Mac Event: Mac Platform Stronger Than Ever

CEO Steve Jobs began today’s Apple event by turning over the stage to COO Tim Cook, who gave a short “State of the Mac” speech illustrating both the strength of the platform and its importance to Apple. The numbers show that iOS isn’t Apple’s only success.

New MacBook Air Rumors Suggest Two Distinct Models (UPDATED)

Over the weekend, we saw a slew of new rumors surrounding the new MacBook Air hit the web. The new reports suggest we might see more than one design for the ultraportable. We might also see the introduction of a new kind of notebook storage.

The Next Apple Event and Product Updates

No Apple event, including WWDC, has seen the introduction of a new Mac. Even the redesigned Mac mini arrived with no more advance notice than the familiar yellow sticky note when the online Apple Store goes down. Don’t expect that to change this year.

Bloomberg is now reporting the next generation Apple TV, rumored to be renamed the iTV, will be unveiled at the annually anticipated Apple event next month. Apple is said to be in talks with networks to bring $0.99 rentals of television shows to the iTunes Store.

iPhone OS 4 Event Announced

Less than a week after the iPad launch, Apple has sent out media invitations for a “sneak peek of the next generation of iPhone OS software.” The event will take place this Thursday, April 8, at 10:00 PST at the Town Hall on Apple’s Cupertino campus.
