Flingo has raised $7 million in a Series A funding round led by August Capital. The San Francisco-based startup, which integrates streaming video and interactive advertising into smart TVs, has also added two new board members: August Capital’s David Marquart and Howard Hartenbaum.
Flingo makes it possible to bring web videos to any connected Vizio TV, thanks to a new open source library that can be integrated into any web site. Flingo CEO Ashwin Navin, formerly of BitTorrent Inc., recently stopped by our office to demonstrate the project.
BitTorrent, Inc. co-founder Ashwin Navin is leaving his post as president of the company to form a new venture with a group of other tech executives that includes Steve Chen of YouTube. Navin announced the news via email and said he would remain with BitTorrent in a new role as board director.
